JO21 HCMOS QUARTZ CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR – Precise timing starting at just 0.9 V for low-voltage systems

Jauch is expanding its proven JO21 Oscillator series with a new variant for low supply voltages. The compact SMD Oscillator in a 2.0 x 1.6 mm package operates at supply voltages as low as 0.9 V and covers a voltage range up to 1.8 V. This makes it ideal for modern, energy-efficient electronic systems with particularly low power consumption.

As electronic devices continue to become smaller and more energy-efficient, the supply voltages of modern circuits are also decreasing. Particularly in wearables, GNSS trackers, sensor applications, and other battery-powered systems, every milliwatt counts. The JO21 Low Voltage was developed specifically to meet these requirements.

Thanks to its flexible supply voltage range of 0.9 V to 1.8 V, the oscillator can be directly matched to the existing low-voltage system supply. This simplifies integration into different printed circuit board (PCB) designs and reduces the need for additional voltage converters or level shifting. As a result, circuits can be designed more compactly and with fewer components.

The JO21 Low Voltage covers a frequency range from 5.0 MHz to 54.0 MHz and achieves frequency stability of up to ±25 ppm. Thanks to its PLL-free design, it provides low phase jitter and is ideal for precise timing applications. For use in demanding environmental conditions, a version with an extended operating temperature range from -40 °C to +105 °C is available.

With a current consumption of up to 3.5 mA at a 0.9 V supply voltage and a 15 pF load, as well as an integrated stop function with a maximum standby current of 50 µA, the Oscillator supports applications that require long battery life and minimal board space.

Typical application areas include wearables, GPS trackers, IoT devices, Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth modules, wireless health monitors, and sensor applications. In addition, the energy-saving JO21 is well suited as a frequency control product for modern SoCs, GNSS chipsets, and RF modules with low supply voltages.
